Hi! I’m Vivek. This is my journal to understand myself and the world a little better. I don’t know where I’ll take it yet, but it’ll be fun.
A little about me, the person behind this thing — I’m a London-based, globally-hearted/minded person who started Mind the Globe as an experiment in documenting an exploration of myself and the world.
I was born in Bangalore and grew up near Detroit, the kid of Indian immigrants from Karnataka who were raising an American child in 1990s Michigan. The push and pull of a multitude of global societal forces were definitive in my experiences in life — and also instilled in me a thirst for understanding people, gaining perspective, reflecting, and experiencing the world.
In my 20s, I got to quit my job in aerospace and travel to some of the places fabled in my imagination by geography books and airline magazines. I also switched careers to tech, moved to San Francisco, and worked at some of the world’s biggest tech companies. I’m now based in London — it’s a great city from which to observe the world.
If I were a plant, I’d be a little older, perhaps a little wiser, bloomed and having unfurled some nice, healthy leaves. But my roots are in need of some more watering. That’s where this little project of mine is flowing back in.
Welcome to Mind the Globe. I hope you’ll find this little experiment interesting.
